Unicard are pleased to say we have been nominated for two awards at the upcoming 2024 Transport Ticketing Awards.
Unicard have been shortlisted as a finalist in the following two categories:
- Ticketing Enabler of the Year for Unicard Ticketing Hub
- Best MaaS Initiative for Breeze (along with our partners Solent Transport and Trafi)
The awards "celebrate the incredible work done around the world to revolutionise passenger experience through ground-breaking ticketing projects" and the nominations recognise the hard work by Unicard and Ecebs colleagues across all three offices to deliver cutting-edge ticketing solutions. The event organisers say they received a record number of entries this year for the 13th annual awards, which celebrate the achievements of the smart ticketing and mobility industry.
This is the second year running that Unicard have been shortlisted at the Transport Ticketing Awards. The Breeze travel app was Highly Commended at the 2023 awards, also in the category of Best MaaS Initiative. Unicard Ticketing Hub is an integration platform designed to orchestrate third-party systems. It allows customers to use a payment card or mobile device to tap in and out on validators on rail platforms, or gates at ticket barriers, at the start and end of every train journey.
Unicard recently deployed Ticketing Hub with Transport for Wales (TfW). This currently allows contactless EMV (cEMV) card payments on selected train routes and services in Wales, as well as processing payments and ensuring passengers pay the best available fare.
Ticketing Hub has enabled TfW to become the first UK train operator outside of London to deploy contactless EMV services. The rollout initially involves a pilot scheme running between Newport, Cardiff and Pontyclun before a phased expansion of the service to the South Wales Metro area.
Breeze is Solent Transport’s Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) app, developed by Trafi. The platform, the UK’s first regional MaaS solution, connects public transport and shared mobility services across the Solent Region on England’s south coast.
Last year Unicard helped Solent Transport become the first UK local transport authority with accreditation to retail rail tickets through a multi-modal app. Breeze uses our Rail Suite platform, which is designed to support rail accreditation.
The Transport Ticketing Awards ceremony takes place as part of Transport Ticketing Global, the world’s largest transport forum event for vendors involved in the future of smart ticketing and mobility. This year the event takes place on March 5-6 at the Olympia London venue.
The winners of the Transport Ticketing Awards will be announced at the Transport Ticketing Gala Dinner & Awards ceremony on March 5 at the nearby Royal Garden Hotel in London.
